FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE SUMMER SEMESTER

The summer aid process has ended for the Summer 2015 Term.  If you have questions regarding financial aid for Summer 2015, please call the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at 405-744-6604.

The following information is provided to give an overview of the summer aid process.

How do I let you know I plan to use financial aid for the summer term?   Complete the Summer Enrollment Plans for Financial Aid Form.

IMPORTANT:  Your summer financial aid is based on an average cost of attendance from your enrollment and housing plans indicated on the Summer Enrollment Plans for Financial Aid Form.  If your summer session enrollment will be greater than 4 weeks of attendance, you may contact our office to discuss additional opportunities for funding (if any).

Types of Assistance

By having previously filed the current year FAFSA and submitting the online Summer Enrollment Plans for Financial Aid Form, you will be considered for financial aid for the summer term.  Parents can be considered for Parent Loan (PLUS) eligibility by applying online at www.studentloans.gov (students must also complete the online Summer 2015 Enrollment Plans for Financial Aid Form).

Federal Pell Grant Recipients:

Typically, 100% of the Pell Grant is utilized for students who were enrolled full-time (12+ hours) in both the Fall and Spring semesters.  Students who submit the enrollment plans form and who have remaining Pell Grant eligibility will see the Pell Grant already accepted when they review their summer awards in SIS Student Self-Service.

Oklahoma's Promise Recipients:

Recipients of the Oklahoma's Promise Program (formerly OHLAP) who have not exceeded the five-year  limit and who meet the academic progress requirements for this program will automatically receive Oklahoma's Promise funding for tuition (not fee) costs during the summer term.

Cowboy Covenant Recipients:

There is no Cowboy Covenant funding for summer terms.

Undergraduate Tuition Waiver Scholarship Recipients:

With the exception of the Oklahoma State Regents Academic Scholars Program, the Oklahoma National Guard Tuition Waiver Program, and the Educating Educators Tuition Waiver (OSU-Tulsa), there are no undergraduate tuition scholarships during the summer term.

How Eligibility is Determined

Summer financial aid eligibility is determined using the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as your summer enrollment plans and living arrangements.  If you received federal aid at OSU for the Fall and/or the Spring semester(s), you would have already filed the FAFSA.  If you are unsure about whether you filed the FAFSA, please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 hours for the summer term to be considered for Federal Direct Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Student Loans and /or Parent (PLUS) Loans.  Undergraduates enrolled in less than 6 hours may be eligible for Pell Grant or Oklahoma's Promise; eligibility is based on financial need and cost of attendance.

Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 2 hours to be considered for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loans or Graduate PLUS Loans.  Each student is required to meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress standards, both at the time the eligibility is determined and at the time the aid is scheduled to be disbursed.  Academic performance in summer can impact eligibility for financial assistance in the fall.

Federal annual award limits are also taken into consideration when determining your award(s).
