2017-2018 Timeline (New Undergraduates)

The following timelines are approximations to assist you as you plan for your education at OSU.

Incoming freshmen should complete the combined application for admission and scholarships at Oklahoma State University well in advance of the dates listed below, as many awards are competitive and have limited funds. It's your responsibility to ensure your test scores and transcripts are postmarked prior to the deadlines.

The 2017-2018 FAFSA includes Fall 2017, Spring 2018 and Summer 2018*.

*For students who attend in the summer, in addition to the FAFSA, students need to complete a separate summer enrollment plans form.

For Students First Entering OSU During the Fall 2017 Semester:

  • October 1, 2016 - The 2017-2018 FAFSA is available for submission, using 2015 income and tax information. We encourage students to file the FAFSA as soon after October 1st as possible. Priority for programs with limited funds, including Federal Work-Study, Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG), Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) and Federal Perkins Loan is given to students who file the FAFSA early and respond promptly to any additional information requests made by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

  • October 2016 - Typical timeframe to begin awarding tuition scholarships to eligible students who have been admitted. Students are notified by e-mail and letter about the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • Late October/Early November 2016 - We typically begin receiving 2017-2018 FAFSA application results. Check your OSU email and the OSU Student Self-Service system for confirmation that your FAFSA was received and notification of any documents/information required to complete the determination of your financial aid eligibility.

  • November 1, 2016 - Early Opportunity Scholarship Deadline for students entering OSU in Fall 2017. Make sure you've submitted every part of the admissions application and submitted the 2017-2018 FAFSA with OSU's school code of 003170. Meeting this deadline assures you have taken the best steps towards all the financial aid and scholarship resources OSU has to offer. Getting things done by November 1 means you are at the front of the line.

  • December 2016 - Typical timeframe to begin notifying students who met the Early Opportunity Scholarship deadline of the first round of scholarships and financial aid awards. This is also when we usually begin awarding the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) ACT/SAT Automatic Qualifiers Scholarship Program. Awards are dependent upon when the State Regents determine the final ACT/SAT scores required for these programs. Students are notified by e-mail and letter about the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • Feb 1, 2017 Priority Scholarship Deadline To be considered for all scholarships at OSU you must apply for admission prior to February 1. Applications received after this date may not be considered for all scholarship programs and will be considered only if funds remain available. If you will be a new freshman in Fall 2017 and you've already applied for admission, make sure you have sent a new transcript from your high school showing your Fall 2016 grades.  Also be sure you've responded to any emails or phone calls from your admissions counselor or the financial aid office.

  • February 2017 - Typical timeframe for OSU to begin awarding the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) Institutional Nominee Scholarship Program. Awards are dependent upon when the State Regents determine the final ACT/SAT scores required for these programs. Students are notified by e-mail and letter and the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • February-April 2017– Second round of competitive scholarships (including scholarships from OSU academic colleges and departments at OSU) to be awarded. Students are notified by e-mail and/or letter about the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • April 2017– After National Merit Finalists are announced, OSU will begin awarding the National Merit Scholarship Package to students who designate OSU as their first school choice or students who submit confirmation of this designation to the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Students are notified by e-mail and letter about the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • July 1, 2017 - Absolute Scholarship deadline for students entering OSU in Fall 2017. Once this date has passed OSU will no longer make scholarship offers to entering students; all information must have been postmarked by July 1.

  • August 2017 - We typically begin disbursement of scholarship and financial aid funds several days prior to the start of the semester. Some funds are not disbursed until several weeks into the semester. Students will receive an e-mail notification shortly before the beginning of the semester to address disbursement of funds.

All dates listed for students entering OSU during the Fall 2017 semester pertaining to the FAFSA are the same for students entering OSU during the Spring 2018 semester.
