2018-19 Timelines

The following timelines are approximations to assist you as you plan for your education at OSU.

Incoming freshmen should complete the combined application for admission and scholarships at Oklahoma State University well in advance of the deadlines listed below, as many awards are competitive and have limited funds. It's your responsibility to ensure your test scores and transcripts are postmarked prior to the deadlines.

The 2018-2019 FAFSA includes Fall 2018, Spring 2019 and Summer 2019*.

*For students who attend in the summer, in addition to the FAFSA, students need to complete a separate summer aid application.

For Students Entering OSU During the Fall 2018 Semester:

  • October 1, 2017 - The FAFSA is available to complete. We encourage students to apply as soon after October 1st as possible. Priority for programs with limited funds is given to students who file the FAFSA early and respond promptly to any additional information requests made by the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
  • November 2017 - Typical trimeframe for OSU to begin awarding tuition scholarships to eligible students who have been admitted. Students are notified by e-mail and letter about the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • December 2017 - Typical timeframe for OSU to begin awarding the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) ACT/SAT Automatic Qualifiers Scholarship Program. Awards are dependent upon when the State Regents determine the final ACT/SAT scores required for these programs. Students are notified by e-mail and letter and the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • Feb 1, 2018 - priority scholarship deadline for students entering OSU in Fall 2018. To be considered for all scholarships at OSU you must apply for admission prior to February 1. Applications received after this date may not be considered for all scholarship programs and will be considered only if funds remain available.

  • February 2018 - Typical timeframe for OSU to begin awarding the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) Institutional Nominee Scholarship Program. Awards are dependent upon when the State Regents determine the final ACT/SAT scores required for these programs. Students are notified by e-mail and letter and the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.
  • Late February/Early March 2018 - We typically begin receiving new FAFSA application results and requesting any needed documents. Students will be sent an e-mail notification for the receipt of the FAFSA and any documents requested.
  • February-April 2018– typical timeframe for competitive scholarships (including scholarships from OSU academic colleges and departments at OSU) to be awarded. Students are notified by e-mail and/or letter about the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • March 1, 2018– Oklahoma State Regents’ deadline to complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA for consideration for the Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG).

  • April 2018 – We typically begin awarding federal/state financial aid for eligible students admitted to OSU and who have completed the financial aid process. Students are notified by e-mail about the award package and deadline for acceptance.

  • April 2018– After National Merit Finalists are announced, OSU will begin awarding the National Merit Scholarship Package to students who designate OSU as their first school choice or students who submit confirmation of this designation to the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Students are notified by e-mail and letter about the scholarship and deadline for acceptance.

  • July 1, 2018 - absolute scholarship deadline for students entering OSU in Fall 2018. Once this date has passed OSU will no longer make scholarship offers to entering students; all information must have been postmarked by July 1.

  • August 2018 - We typically begin disbursement of scholarship and financial aid funds several days prior to the start of the semester. Some funds are not disbursed until several weeks into the semester. Students will receive an e-mail notification shortly before the beginning of the semester to address disbursement of funds.

For Students Entering OSU During the Spring 2019 Semester:

All dates listed for students entering OSU during the Fall 2018 semester pertaining to the FAFSA are the same for students entering OSU during the Spring 2019 semester.

If you originally put OSU on the FAFSA and were awarded financial aid for 2018-2019, your aid may have been cancelled if you did not notify us of your plans to begin attendance in the spring semester. Please contact us to check your status. If you attended elsewhere for the Fall 2018 semester and did not originally include OSU on the FAFSA, you need to add our school code (003170) to the 2018-2019 FAFSA for our office to receive the results.

 

Your awards may be limited to funds available at the time your awards are processed.

  • The Friday before the spring semester begins at OSU - absolute scholarship deadline for students entering OSU in the spring. Once this date has passed OSU will no longer make scholarship offers to entering students; all information must have been postmarked prior to the Friday before the spring semester begins at OSU.

  • January 2019 - We typically begin disbursement of scholarship and financial aid funds several days prior to the start of the semester. Some funds are not disbursed until several weeks into the semester. Students will receive an e-mail notification shortly before the beginning of the semester to address disbursement of funds.
