Repeated Coursework

Federal regulations impact your ability to receive financial aid (federal and state) for repeated coursework.

When CAN you receive financial aid for repeated coursework?

  • If you have already passed a course with a "D" or better, and you are repeating the course for the first time, our office can include that course when determining your financial aid eligibility.

  • If you have taken a course and failed it, you can repeat the course, and our office can include that course when determining your financial aid eligibility.

  • If you have taken a course and withdrawn from it, you can repeat the course, and our office can include that course when determining your financial aid eligibility.

You must also meet Satisfactory Academic Progress to ensure continued eligibility for financial aid.

When CAN'T you receive financial aid for repeated coursework?

  • If you have already passed a course two times with a "D" or better, and you are repeating the course for the second time (or more), our office cannot include that course when determining your financial aid eligibility.

  • If you have already passed a course with a "D" or better, then repeat the course and earn an "F," for any additional repeats of the course, our office cannot include that course when determining your financial aid eligibility.

NOTE: This policy does not apply to courses in which you are expected to enroll on a continuing basis, such as music courses.
