2016-2017 Public School Tutor Interest Form
Only submit this form if you have been awarded Federal Work-Study.
If you don’t know whether you have an FWS award, login to the OSU student portal at my.okstate.edu and check the “Award Overview” screen.
This program offers tutoring in reading and math to elementary students and math to middle school students throughout Stillwater and surrounding areas. Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students in the classroom and in after-school programs. There is no specific major required to be a tutor in either reading or math; however, you must enjoy working with children, have patience, and you must be dependable.
The schools, teachers, and especially the children will be counting on you. Only agree to participate in this program if you are truly interested in working with young children and are willing to view this position not only as a part-time job but also as an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Because public schools in this area begin at about the same time as OSU classes, most of the schools prefer that you not begin working with the students until the 2nd or 3rd week of classes.
To ensure that the elementary and middle schools in the area receive equal assistance, the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid Community Service Work-Study staff will assign you to a school. If we hire you as a tutor, we will do our best to match your position with your areas of interest; however, there are limited positions available. Once we receive this form, we will contact you with information about interviewing for the position.
